meet our board members

anita smith

 currently serves as Audit Chief, leading a team that provides independent compliance assessments of government programs. Before that, she spent over eight years with the Department of the Treasury as an audit manager and auditor in the Office of Inspector General. She spent time as a senior auditor for the City of Tampa. Before those positions, Anita served as an accountant and as a financial and budget liaison for the grants management program with the City of Gaithersburg, giving budgeting advice on the equitable disbursement of funds to programs addressing homelessness, food security, medical care, skills training, and mental health.

In 2020, Anita transitioned to the Tampa Bay area from Washington, D.C., and has spent time writing, sitting on the beach, and searching for a church home. She enjoys travel and absolutely adores her four grandchildren: twins Eli and Analise, their sister Amalie, and the newest addition, Violet. Anita feels called to Bible and Pop Culture as a contributor and founding board member, “to share my story, my testimony and voice to those that may feel there is more to say about faith and our journeys,” as well as our financial advisor and accountant, to share her accounting expertise to help build a solid foundation for our magazine and ministry.
